I live in Perth, Western Australia which is the either the most or the second most isolated capital city in the world. Every year for my annual leave I like to travel overseas and as Asia is close-ish and cheap-ish we usually end up somewhere in there.

I started travelling in 1986 when I was in my early twenties. I caught the bug and went overseas again the next three years. After that the travelling stopped as family life started – one husband and four children in six years living on one income means no travel. I returned to paid employment in 2005 when my oldest child was 13 and in 2011 the travelling started again.

I have not looked back. I always want to see new places, going to places I have been before only if the trip includes someplace I haven’t been.

~ once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before ~

Lately, I seem to be going to more than one new someplace a year – and I am totally ok with that.
