the emerald pool in the jungle day

Thursday 17 September 2015

After breakfast in the hotel restaurant we were picked up for a tour to Emerald Pool, about 75km from Ao Nang Beach.

This is not that an unusual a sight in Thailand

We arrived at the Emerald Pool site about an hour-and-a-half later.

Looking back at the entrance

We walked a short way to the path that leads to Emerald Pool

The walk to Emerald Pool on the path is several hundred metres and being overcast with rainy patches, it was quite humid. Apart from the humidity, the walk through the jungle was enjoyable.

Finally, we reached Emerald Pool. The Pool is pretty but the rocks surrounding it are very slippery.

We stayed for a little while, then made our way back to the entrance along the path. During the walking the rain started pouring down and it was glorious. It was such a relief to be thoroughly soaked by rain and feel the relief from the humidity. It was fun!

Next we drove to the nearby hot spring. Apparently there wasn’t as much water or as much heat as normal. It was nothing much really.

It was a short walk to the river

Don’t worry, I have no intention of sitting here!

We arrived back at the hotel early afternoon. The rest of the day was spent lazing around in our room, swimming in the pool and at the pool bar – of course!
