Friday 7 April 2017
The last two days passed with not a lot happening. Wednesday was a wonderful, relaxing and lazy day by the pool followed by a visit to My Place Lounge in the evening.
Yesterday we went to Wororot Market to say goodbye to our whiskey loving friends. They invited us to dinner so last night another bottle of whiskey bit the dust. It was a good night with lots of talking and laughter.
Today we are going out with our friend Kun A and her son who are taking us to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens in Mae Sa near Chiang Mai. First though, we are going to lunch at the picturesque Mae Sa Valley Garden Resort. Lunch was delicious and so was my mango smoothie.
After lunch we drove the short distance to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens
The property is on a hill and to get to the tree top walk we had to go up the hill. Lucky we were in the car, though I do believe there was a shuttle bus but I am not aware of the schedule or the price.
A good view of the tree top walk just before we started our walk
Beware of the wildlife
Doi Mon Kwham Long
After this the path goes straight ahead to a lookout at the end or you can turn left to circle back around to the beginning point. We kept going to the end of the path before coming back to take that path.
The lookout at the end of the walk has a better view of the mountain
From here we turned back and took the other path back
Looking down through the pillars holding up the structure
After the walk we were hot and sweaty and just needed some coolness. Lucky at the end of the path there was a gift shop with air con and bottles of cold water.
Then we drove further up the road to the greenhouses
The large greenhouse to the left holds a multi level rain forest
There are several greenhouses, each with a different theme. The first one we entered was for carnivorous plants.
There was a greenhouse full of water lilies
In the first of the larger greenhouses was a water garden
The pretty orchid greenhouse
Next up it was the huge rainforest greenhouse
While the orchids are pretty and the rainforest is lush, I really love the rugged beauty of the succulents
When we finished looking at the plant and flowers in the greenhouses we sat and rested and talked a while. We then drove back to Chiang Mai and bid a fond farewell to Kun A.
We will see our friends next time we are here. Tomorrow we are heading home.
